Kashan is an ideal choice if what you seek is a quiet and authentic city. It has a unique energy, distinct from that of other cities, because it is not too big and not too busy. One of the most famous in Iran is the Golabgiri (rosewater extraction) held in Kashan, popular among many enthusiasts. Kashan‘s historical sites are not far from one another, which means you can tour most of them in one or two days! It’s one of those rare places where you feel like time moves a little slower as you walk around!
It is easy to get to. It takes about 3 hours by car between Tehran and Isfahan. There is a train and a bus that run regularly. There is no airport, but it is not necessary—the city itself is small and easy to get around.
First of all, see its old houses: Tabatabaei House, Boroujerdi House, and The Ameri House. Each one has Attractive courtyards, colored windows, and large windbreaks. Only the birds’ voices and water can be heard in the courtyard’s middle.
Kashan’s historical houses are one of the richest of Iranian culture and architecture, ranging from Tabatabaeis with their elaborate design, to Abbasids with their dozens of courtyards. The Borujerdi house with its love story, the Ameris as a traditional hotel, and the Manouchehri weaving workshops are all part of Kashan’s identity.

Go to the Fin Garden. Particularly in spring, this large garden features high trees, a central pond, and a cold environment. There is also a historic bathhouse with plenty to offer.

If you’re a landscape lover, go to the top of the Amir Ahmad Bath. The tiles are beautiful, but the view you see from behind them is something else. Windbreaks, domes, distant mountains… it has a special feel.
